About us
Tamil Learning Centre is founded by likeminded volunteers to teach Tamil language and the cultural values to young children living in Bristol UK. Tamil learning centre will provide a nurturing and stimulating educational environment where every student can thrive to learn one of the ancient languages in the world. We have students from all age groups starting from 5. We are dedicated to teach tamil language from beginners’ level till A-level.
We are affiliated to Cambridge Tamil Syllabus (GCE O Level) so that students can complete GCSE and A-Level which are recognised in the UK. Our commitment to excellence has been the cornerstone of our philosophy since our founding in
2017.
Our focus is on both curriculum and learn to speak tamil for everyone irrespective of age group.
The aim is to enable learners to achieve greater fluency, accuracy and confidence in the written language and to achieve a level of practical communication which can also form the basis for further, more in-depth language study.
Achievements
Our first batch of student completed A-Level in Tamil in 2018.
Two batches have completed their GCSE in Tamil.
We are proud to mention that Non-Tamil speaking adults are part of our school learning to speak tamil.

Teachers
All our teachers are graduates, postgraduates and most of them are full-time employees. All our teachers can speak/write the Tamil language very well. All our teachers are Level -1 qualified teachers in Tamil. Most of the teachers are working in schools and have good teaching experience.
Purpose of the Tamil School
Tamils living in England must preserve their traditions, values, and culture. To fulfill this need, they must live in constant connection with their language, arts, and literature.
Understanding the cultural needs of the Tamil community living in England, the Tamil school operates to serve children. The main purpose of our Tamil school is to ensure that children grow up with a deep and lasting connection to the Tamil language, arts, and heritage.
Goal of the Tamil School
The aim of the Tamil school is to provide education in Tamil language, literature, and culture to members of the Tamil community and others interested in Tamil studies.
We design and offer curricula tailored to their needs, helping them stay connected to their heritage and live in close relationship with their traditions.
We compile educational resources for learning Tamil and make them widely available to Tamil people. We develop syllabi on Tamil language, literature, and culture. Whether for intellectual curiosity or for obtaining certifications, we provide opportunities to learn these subjects.
Give the Tamil Sangam an opportunity to nurture your child’s language ability.
At a young age, children may begin to forget their mother tongue. Therefore, every Tamil parent must ensure their child is enrolled in a Tamil school.
The mother tongue not only contributes to personal success and growth but also forms the foundation of the cultural identity of diaspora communities. Teaching our native language is akin to planting the seed of a cultural tree. Thus, even if our children know Tamil, it is essential they also develop a connection and appreciation for it, which undoubtedly enriches their lives.
Our Tamil school, which began on 20.11.1983, continues to thrive and spread the light of Tamil. The London Tamil Sangam’s Tamil Language and Culture School operates every Sunday at Plashet School in East Ham.
The lessons are designed to suit the European environment and to strengthen the speaking, reading, and writing skills of our Tamil boys and girls, ensuring the language is taught effectively. Courses range from beginner level to G.C.E. level, with around 120 students currently enrolled.
Classes are taught by capable teachers who follow a structured approach and adopt educational methods compatible with the European curriculum and learning styles.
The final G.C.E. exam for the school is conducted by Cambridge University. In the past, our students had to travel far to sit for this exam. To ease this difficulty, an exam center was established within the Tamil Sangam itself, and it has been successfully operating for the past ten years.
Each year, the number of students should grow, and through that growth, progress must be made — this is our hope and our unwavering goal.
We seek your support and blessings to continue our service!
